Shaun Tait Steps Down as Bangladesh Fast Bowling Coach to Prioritize Family

Former Australia quick and current Bangladesh speed bowling coach Shaun Tait has resigned with immediate effect, following Bangladesh’s disappointing World Cup campaign. The 42-year-old had been with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for a year before stepping down, citing family obligations as his main reason.

The 42-year-old coach said that although he enjoyed working with Bangladesh, which he took to the top tier of international cricket, he now wanted to spend more time with his young family. Tait started with the Bangladesh national setup in May 2025 and was set to be under contract until November 2027.

Tait thanked the BCB and the players he worked with over the past year while reflecting on nearly 10 years in his role He stated that he had a great rapport with the team, especially discussing how his fast bowling unit led him to great times of coaching.

Tait hinted that while he could be moving away from full time international coaching with Bangladesh, it doesn’t mean a complete farewell to the country’s cricket. He also added that various other chances may come up in the future, including franchise competitions like the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and others.
